Condemn the massacre of 19 Philippine Activists! Justice for the Toboso 19!

On April 19 the Armed Forces of the Philippine Old State (AFP) carried out a brutal massacre against the people of Negros Island. Killing 19 People, including numerous activists, journalists, peasants and Displaced over 653 people (168 families)

Among those killed include two Filipino-American activists, Kai Sorem a youth organizer from Seattle, and Lyle Prijoles, a human rights activist from San Francisco.

This is not the AFP’s first time committing atrocities against the Filipino people, they have a long bloody history of repressing the worker and peasant masses. From 2022 to 2025 52 out of the 135 victims of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines occurred in Negros.

US imperialism props up the Old State in the Philippines through hundreds of millions of dollars in “aid” which concretely looks like US weaponry, training, and corporations flooding into the Philippines to continue the semi-colonial and feudal oppression the Filipino people face.

We denounce with the utmost class hatred the massacre of 19 people in Toboso massacre. We join the National Democratic Movement in grieving and anger over the deaths of the 19. We understand that US imperialism is the peoples of the world main enemy, and that we must fight to end it, so a world where massacres like this one, can never happen again!
